Tech Compass Pty Ltd ("Tech Compass", "we", "us") operates the API platform at api.techcompass.com.au. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: email address and hashed password when you sign up.
• API usage data: call counts, timestamps, request IDs, and endpoint paths — used for quota enforcement, billing, and immutable audit trails.
• Billing data: Stripe handles payment details. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
• Intent signal: the optional "what are you building" selection you make during signup.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Providing, operating, and improving the API platform.
• Enforcing monthly quota limits and billing.
• Sending transactional emails (account creation, quota warnings) via Resend.
• Maintaining audit trails as required for compliance use cases.
• Responding to support requests.

3. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored in Google Cloud Platform (australia-southeast1 region for Australian data, us-central1 for US data). We use encryption at rest and in transit. API keys are stored as one-way hashes — we cannot recover a key after it is shown to you.

4. Third-Party Services

• Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Google Cloud Platform — infrastructure and logging.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Audit log records are retained for 7 years to support compliance obligations. You may request deletion of your account by emailing [email protected] — note that audit log records required for regulatory compliance may be retained in anonymised form.

6. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. Contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use only essential localStorage/sessionStorage for session management (API key, tier, intent). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email to registered users. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
